1. Ed k seems to know a little about it, but...

First-I've seen many competitive bracket cars that the owners don't have $5000.00 invested in them.

Second-you don't have to have a competition license until your car is in the 11 second range.

Third-the licensing runs are not witnessed or signed off by a driver, they are watched by a track/sanctioning body official. I personally have a license that allows me to drive cars running as quick as 8.90 et.

If you want to get into any form of racing the only way is to DO IT. My daughter is 14 and has been going racing with me since she was 3. When she was 7 she told me that she would like to race when she got older. In the fall of 2002, I sold my Chevelle Super Stock car and used the money to build her a Jr. Dragster-with her helping of course. She has since won 3 track championships. She knows her car inside and out and has hopes of drag racing professionally some day. The Jr. Dragster class is open for ages 7-17 and the maximum speed of the cars is limited by the drivers age. Sure, I miss racing myself, but, I get more enjoyment from spending time working on the car with my daughter and watching her compete than I ever got while racing my own car. It's a great family sport, so, get your parents involved in it and go racing.

Good luck. I hope you make it. We need more females in motorsports.

  2. You would need a few things before you can get this done. First, you would need a car, lots of money. You would have to secure sponsorship to pay for all the equipment. Then to race in the NHRA level, you would have to be licensed. Depending on the class you want to race; top fuel, funny car, etc. you have to run a certain ET to qualify. A current NHRA driver would have to witness your run and sign off on your license. You have a lot of work to do to get there..........but good luck to you.
