  1. I was never in JROTC as my HS didn't have it, but i had friends that went to the local public school (i went to private school, so believe me I know about uniforms, lol) that were involved, and absolutely loved the JROTC program.  Especially if you are considering a career (or a few volunteer years) in the service. Also looks great on your college transcripts.  You already said you enjoy the class.  Don't worry about the uniform cuz everyone else that's in the club with you will also be wearing a uniform.  Would you be embarrassed wearing a baseball or football uniform??? It's no different. You should wear that uniform and be proud of it.  Also a nice plus to wearing a uniform is you just grab it and go, no time wasted trying to figure out what to wear.  Believe me in several years your going to be glad you did it.

  2. While I really enjoy the structure of a class like that, I feel it won't help me become a ____. Is there anyway I could switch into a class such as ___?"

I dont' think they can require you to take an army or military sponsored class. It's not required learning material. If you are denied, go to your principal or vice principal in charge of academics, and make a case for that it is not required, and you have the right to a fair and equal education, meaning that while to others it may be equal, you don't feel you need or want the class. If they deny you, too, try to live with it.

BTW, it's offensive to say 'the g*y part.' You aren't going to get many responses if you immediately offend people.
