10. Jrue Holiday
The number ten position in this list features the 21 year old Jrue Holiday, considered as one the most promising young talents in the NBA right now. Jrue was drafted two years ago by the Philadelphia 76’ers as the 17th
overall pick.
The 6 ft 4 inch star showed great potential in just his second term last year. He managed to bag an average of 14 points per game, 7 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game. Jrue is an extremely athletic player who possesses
great manoeuvrability. His main strength lies in his speed and size.
Although Jrue is an exceptional scorer, as evident by his 29 point high score game against the Los Angeles Clippers last season, he mainly tends to settle into the role of a facilitator. Even at this young age, Holiday has shown
great composure and the ability to dictate the game in all situations.
In 2009, he was given the starting job as a point guard, due to an injury sustained by Louis Williams. After Williams returned, Jrue was once again sidelined to the bench. However, the 76ers continued losing games which ultimately
led to Jrue’s reinstatement.
After last years’ impressive display, he has pretty much cemented his position at the heart of the 76ers. Excellent at creating space and an exceptional passer of the ball, Jrue is set to become one of most sought after point guards
in the near future.
For now, he makes the list at number 10.
9. John Wall
John Wall has just completed his rookie season in the NBA and ranks as number nine in this elite list of players. Wall was Washington Wizards’ first overall pick in the 2010 draft and has since proved to be nothing short of a revelation
for them.
John is destined to be one of the leading point guards in the years to come. He just completed his rookie season and roused the interest of many. He has shown great maturity to fit right in with the senior players. Moreover, Wall
displayed high levels of effectiveness even on a below average team.
John racked up an average of 16.4 points, 8.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game, last season. Those figures are extremely impressive for a rookie playing on a below par team. However, his shooting accuracy could do with some improvement
as he only managed 41% from the field. Partial blame can be attributed to his inexperience and the rest to his teammates.
From here on in, Wall is only expected to improve. He is athletic, can dunk with force, is an excellent passer of the ball and is quick at acquiring steals for his team. To add to his credit, he made the All Star Rookie team of
the year and was named the MVP of the night. He also managed a triple-double in his first ever year as he gathered 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists.
John Wall is certainly a name to remember in the upcoming few years.
