Ju jutsu basic?

what exactly is ju jutsu? is it striking or ground work (grappling)? or what? does it teach the guard, takedowns, etc?

  1. depends. Japanese jiujitsu is the empty hand combat style of the samurai originally. a lot of karate styles came from this base, as did Gracie jiujitsu. In BJJ you learn closing the distance to your opp. the takedowns, ground control, and submissions. Punching and elbow are learned but if you learn the control so you can keep better position anyone can throw punches and elbows.


  2. Jui Jitsu is mostly ground work, joint manipulation, and chokes.  There are some strikes involved, but a Jui Jitsu fighter will focus on getting their opponent to the ground.  More people should study this because almost all fights will end up on the ground.

  3. Jujitsu is "the gentle art " it was the main fighting system of the samurai it includes ground grappleing and stricks and kicks - Now know that there are tons of veriety of jujitsu systems i study goshin and combat jujitsu

  4. It's basically every kind of Martial Art wrapped in one.
