Nelson Oliveira gave Deportivo La Coruna the impetus in their Spanish Primera Division encounter with Granada at Los Carmenes. It was just advantage Jose Luis Oltra’s side took with them into the interval after dominating proceedings against their hosts.
However, the travelling side could not add to their numbers on the scoreboard and were left ruing their prolificacy in front of goal with Granada scoring the equalizer through Floro Flores 9 minutes from time.
El Grana coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Juan-Antonio-c19650 Anquela, was understandably pleased with the point his side took away from the domestic fixture, whilst admitting his side were run ragged during the encounter.
Anquela acknowledged that Granada were inconsistent in the outing and did not have the right approach to tackle their rivals. He added that the hosts got a good start but lacked consistency, eventually remaining content with Deportivo making forays into
their attacking third.
Continuing on the topic, the witty tactician stated that Nelson’s goal was a harsh reflection of their efforts, before going on to admit that they were truly on their way to yet another defeat had Flores not scored.
“A point is a good return, we lacked the correct approach and consistency today. The team started well, but lacked calmness in the final pass.”
“The goal conceded was an excessive punishment, but we were closer to losing the second half than winning it, but with a bit of luck, we may have also won.”
Reflecting on the details of the match, Anquela remarked that Granada were at fault on numerous occasions with Deportivo exerting pressure on them. He attributed their mistakes in the second half to trying to much after starting the second period bring a
goal down at home.
“We have made too many mistakes, so it is very difficult. It would not be easy to score two goals every Sunday so as to win.”
“We risked a lot too, but we had to die trying. I am not too nervous though, because sooner or later we will pick up the points. We have good players here, we will get a bit of success.”
