Juan Carlos Burgos, Cristobal Cruz clash to take place at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino – Boxing news
The bout between Juan Carlos Burgos, world number nine super featherweight and Cristobal Cruz, world number 11 super featherweight has encountered a few changes.
According to the latest update, the bout and the whole event which was scheduled to take place at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, has been shifted to Dover, Delaware, and will now take place at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.
Reasons for change in location have not been confirmed yet. The super featherweight division bout will be held with Carlos’ WBC Silver super featherweight title on the line.
The event will be headlined by the ultimate bout between Mike Tiberi and Edgar Santana. Edgar, the current NABA light welterweight champion will defend his title.
Juan Carlos and Cruz both are prolific brawlers who have won several fights against high profile pugilists. Cruz has a huge experience of 55 brawls. He has won a whopping 39 bouts and lost 12 of his encounters. An important aspect to note is his knockout
percentage and the number of knocked out opponents.
Cruz, infamous in Mexico as the Lacandón, lacks seriously in taking on his opponents by straight punch shots.
The 34-year-old Cruz heavily relies on his resilience. He takes his opponent all the way to the end of the 12th round and then wins by grasping a unanimous decision. But this same aspect might not help him that much when against the young, powerful pound-for-pound
Juan.
Burgos, 24, is Mexico’s second best super featherweight. He has in such a young age thrown himself 29 times in the squared ring. Interestingly, his record boasts the Mexicans fighting spirit and talent with 28 wins and just one loss. The most lethal aspect
of Juan is his knock out percentage.
Juan heavily outclasses Cruz by his knock out ratio of 65.52 percent that is a total of 19 knocked out opponents. The only aspect that gives the two opponents an upper hand on each other is experience in case of Cruz and knocking out proficiency when we
talk about Carlos.
The duo has captured various titles in their illustrious career. Cruz has successfully retained his IBF featherweight title against five different opponents.
Apart from that Cristobal grasped the vacant IBF featherweight gold from Orlando Salido, Mexico’s number one and world’s number two featherweight. Therefore both men have the capability to create an upset, a huge one. The event will be televised from ESPN’s
Friday Night Fights show.
