Juan Carlos Salgado to face Alexander Mendez for IBF Super Featherweight title – Boxing news
The former WBC, FECARBOX, WBC Continental Americas Featherweight and WBA Super Featherweight Champion Juan Carlos Salgado will be facing Argenis Alexander Mendez in their 12-round bout for vacant IBF Super Featherweight title belt on August 20, 2011 in Mexico.
Hector Garcia, who is currently acting as a spokesman of HG Boxing, has confirmed the news saying that the fight deal between Juan Carlos Salgado and Argenis Mendez has been signed.
The two fighters were originally scheduled to face each other on July 23, 2011 but now according to Garcia, the fighters will come face to face in August. However, the fight venue has not been decided yet and the announcement will be made in the next couple
of days.
Juan Carlos Salgado has been an outstanding performer since he joined boxing as a profession. He has won 23 of his 25 bouts including 16 knockout victories with only one loss and one draw in his professional boxing career.
Juan ‘Matador’ Salgado, who fights at the Junior Welterweight, Lightweight, Super Featherweight and Featherweight divisions, turned professional winning a four-round unanimous points decision over Claudio Ricardo Flores of Mexico at the Foro Las Americas
in Mexico City, Distrito Federal.
The 26-year-old Southpaw stance Salgado is coming back to the ring after winning a couple of good fights. In his last fight, Salgado won a 10-round unanimous points decision against Guadalupe Rosales on February 26, 2011.
Mendez is a young but an exciting fighter and out of his 19 total fights, he has won 18 including 9 knockout victories with only one loss.
He is globally recognised as the claimant of the silver medal at the Junior World Championships 2004. The 25-year-old, Orthodox stance Mendez is returning to the ring after winning six of his consecutive fights.
It is expected to be a huge and entertaining fight. Hopefully, both the fighters will be one hundred percent fit to compete on the fight night to make it an interesting battle to watch.
