Despite having a two-goal advantage in just under 22 minutes, Deportivo La Coruna were unable to hold on to their lead and lost the match 5-3 to Real Zaragoza on Saturday
Deportivo have not had any problems so far this season when it comes to scoring goals. In fact they have found the back of the net on 18 different occasions in La Liga. The problem for them is that they are conceding far more than
they score. It is a statistic that makes them the joint worse defence side in the league.
Despite their loss, midfielder Juan Dominguez still believes coach, Jose Luis Oltra is still the boss and that his authority is still intact and not undermined.
Juan commented on this issue and said that he doesn’t believe any player has questioned the authority of the coach.
“No players thinks the Coach is questioned, or at least that's what I think.”
The 22-year-old declared that everyone in the team is committed to the coach. He also commented on the Zaragoza match and believes that it was the sending off of Luís Miguel Afonso Fernandes, also known as Pizzi, and the penalty
conceded that changed the outcome of the game.
“The entire team is committed to the Coach. We were 2-0 up and in control, and because of the penalty and expulsion, Zaragoza turned it around.”
The youngster has admitted that his team's biggest weakness at the moment is the fact that they are conceding so many goals. He mentioned that all they need to do is tighten up their back line.
“It is clear that we have many goals against, no can deny that, but we are just one win away from many teams. We need to correct the defence without failing in attack because we are scoring a lot.”
Finally, the Spaniard has shared his thoughts on the club’s financial problems and the upcoming match with Levante UD.
“Last season Levante were great and this year they are the same.”
