Juan Francisco scores on error as Atlanta Braves beat Colorado Rockies 1-0 - MLB Update
An error by the pitcher Jhoulys Chacin allows Juan Francisco to score as the Atlanta Braves win 1-0 against the Colorado Rockies at Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia on September 6, 2012 in the last match of the four game series.
Atlanta’s offence remains silent for two days now and yet they have won both games. Interestingly they have been helped by errors in these two matches.
Braves’ manager Fredi Gonzalez will be aware of what the team has lacked in the last two matches and what is necessary to win the crucial games ahead in the season. Their offence is capable of pounding the best pitchers have shown some loop-holes that can
be exploited and thus can become a cause of decline for the side.
Although Atlanta struck seven hits on Thursday just like the Rockies they failed to convert them into runs. Another aspect that was noticeable in the match was the inability of the likes of Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward to thrash home-runs, something
that they have done so often in the season.
Tim Hudson will be jubilant after recording his 14th win for Atlanta on Thursday. He was scoreless in seven innings. He yielded six hits and walked two batters.
Hudson has proven lucky this year as some of the matches in which he was hammered for hits did not end up into losses. Braves’ offence eclipsed them with stunning performances and brought wins for him in turn. Similarly on Thursday he was fortunate as this
time their defence came to his rescue.
"To win the last two like we did is nice for the pitching staff," Hudson said. "We can puff out our chests a little bit. It definitely wasn't my best stuff. I smoke-and-mirrored them a little bit."
Craig Kimbrel earned his 34th save by completing scoreless last inning.
The Braves will be looking to carry their winning momentum forward in to this crucial part of the regular season.
Currently their pitching staff is terrific. If their offence keeps supporting them with reasonable number of runs then the Braves are definitely going to attain new heights in the season.
