Juan Garcia: I will start things off swiftly from the very first bell against Yordenis Ugas
Juan Garcia, the surging light welterweight, who is scheduled to defend his undefeated streak against Yordenis Ugas, recently put forth his thoughts and said that he will start the bout at a fast pace and will move forward full throttle from the very first
bell adding that a win over Ugas will boost him up in the rankings and he will steal the Cuban’s shine.
Juan and Ugas are scheduled to take on each other in a non-title eight-round skirmish which will co-headline the pay-per-view promoted by Top Rank’s Bob Arum. The ring for the nine-bout extravaganza will be stretched at Casino Del Sol arena situated in Tucson,
Arizona, United States.
The event, to be televised on ‘Showtime’ on Friday March 23, 2012, will be headlined by the NABF super featherweight championship clash between Diego Magdaleno and Fernando Beltran. Juan, 29, has been in a total 11 bouts and remains undefeated.
Juan, also known as ‘Johnny Garcia’, is a knockout specialist and has collected eight of his total wins by knocking the opponent out. This will be the first time that Juan will enter the ring for an eight-round skirmish but this factor does not seem to affect
his determination.
During the interview, when asked as to how he feels about his career’s first ever eight-round bout, Juan simply said, “I have sparred and trained hard. I have always been dedicated to my conditioning. If the fight goes the distance I will have no problems.”
Juan said that he does not believe on the stats or the records one possesses adding that the criteria to determine a pugilists’ lethalness is to look at the opponents he has fought. The 29-year-old Garcia said, “Can’t always judge by records. It depends
on who we have fought. I do think though that I am the stronger fighter. We’ll see who has the punch when the bell rings.”
While expressing his sheer confidence on the upcoming engagement, Juan said that he will give the fans an epic brawling experience and he will certainly strive hard to nail the man with an impressive amateur career (Ugas).
The orthodox Juan while sharing his strategy commented, “I’m going to mix it up right away. I want to get things started right from the first bell. I’m looking to set a fast pace. It’s going to be an exciting action fight. I will be pressing forward. There
will not be a dull moment!”
The bout will witness both men defend their unbroken 11-bout win streaks but on Friday night one will definitely leave the ring with career’s first ever loss.
