The Levante head coach shared that the penalty was a harsh punishment but deserved, while also adding that the match official was too eager to take out the cards. However, he stated that he cannot begrudge the referee anything as he acted what was best in
his opinion and it is his responsibility to respect it.
While, Martinez admitted that the first spot kick was merited, he did not share the same views about the second that was given against them. He stated that players go down very easily in the area and it was a call on similar lines.
"It is the same thing I said last year in Madrid. Already the name says. Maximum penalty as a punishment is too great. Already a penalty and not all cards must be yellow (was the second of Navarro).It's his opinion, and his opinion must be respected. The
second penalty is a struggle and as we drop like a stone. "
Reflecting on his analysis of the match, Martinez stated that even with the score at 0-0 although the Real Valladolid controlled proceedings in the first half and they were in cruise control as they went 2-0 up.
