  1. Camacho would destroy La Porte...Mc Guigan beat La Porte, Nelson beat La Porte...Camacho too fast and too strong

  2. im gonna be even crazier than Guzman, and say La[orte wouldnt have stood a chance, one of the greatest ever Camach, despite the snobbery about his behaviour, you americans are gettin wors than the Brits for it!!Camacho ko rn 10.

  3. Call me crazy. . .but I think LaPorte could have pulled this out.  Both were cagy. . . .Camacho was faster, and possibly stronger. . .but Juan had much more heart and was much more accurate with his shots than Camacho (who wasted lots and lots of shots per round).

    LaPorte UD15

  4. the laporte who almost beat j c chavez in '86 would give camacho a tough night, but the so called macho man would still outpoint juan by unanimous decision,

  5. You've got to be kidding me. Camacho would barely break a sweat outboxing LaPorte. At 130 he was virtually untouchable. I remember him back in those days and its a shame he never got a superfight until his prime was past him.  He was very talented but after 1986 he seemed to lose his heart for boxing.  His TKO over Sugar Ray Leonard was a fluke.  Galactus, your take on Camacho and the fight is right on the money.  Well said.  Very well said.

  6. Camacho.  NO Contest.

Because of his foolish behavior outside the ring, many dont want to give Camacho any credit for his ring ability.  His "Accomplishments" might not have reached full potential but he was a very gifted fighter.  He also had something most fighters dont have.  He had great balance.  Get a hold of some of his early fights and see for yourself.

LaPorte was rugged and, god could he take a punch.  However, he was AWEFULLY SLOW for a featherweight.  He gave a still growing Chavez a good fight in 86.  By that time Juan was in his prime and Chavez had not yet reached his.  Still, prime Camacho would be too much for him.  He would stalk Camacho but eat a lot of right jabs (rem, Hector was a southpaw), and straight lefts for his troubles.  Camacho would not seriously hurt him.   However, if anyone NEAR your class hits you often enough you WILL sustain some damage.

Something happened to Camacho during the time he fought Edwin Rosario.  I dont know if it was the fight itself or whatever was happening in his life outside.   Rosario hurt Camacho with a hard right, in round 5,  and changed the fight.   Hector won, amidst cries of foul from ''anti-Camacho fans".  The decision was fair because Rosario, though he landed the harder punches, didnt win many rounds.

Hector closes LaPorte's eyes and shakes him up but fails to put him on the canvas.  He wasn't the light puncher many think, not at 130.  He packed decent power there.   However,  LaPorte was very tough.

In this case too tough for his own good.   The referee stops the fight when Juan can no longer see the blinding combinations that closed his eye.

    Camacho by TKO in 11

  7. camacho

  8. Because of his superior handspeed, Camacho takes this fight and rather easily over LaPorte who was a tough customer.  No knockouts here but a unanimous decisoin victory for the Macho man!
