Juan Manuel Marquez: I am preparing extremely hard for skirmish with Serhiy Fedchenko - Boxing news
Juan Manuel Marquez, the current World Boxing Organisation (WBO) lightweight champion, recently arrived at his home country Mexico after 19 long years and said that he is preparing extremely hard for his upcoming engagement with Serhiy Fedchenko adding that
he wants to give his countrymen an exquisite bout and a win to remember.
Juan and Serhiy are scheduled to take on each other in a 12-round skirmish with the interim WBO light welterweight gold up for the grabs. The ring for the extravaganza will be stretched at New Mexico City Arena situated in Mexico City, Distrito Federal,
Mexico and the bout will be televised on April 14, 2012.
The event is being promoted by Fernando Beltran of Promociones Zanfer promotions and the Saturday night show will be broadcasted on HBO’s weekly boxing show. Juan, 38, is ranked as the number one light welterweight in the world and has put forth the boxing
fanatics several epic, impressive and memorable bouts.
The veteran orthodox has been in a total 60 bouts and came out victorious in 53. He has collected 39 of his total wins by knockout and is considered unanimously as one of the best pound-for-pound pugilists in the world.
Marquez caught media’s eye specifically because of his trilogy with the Filipino congressman Manny Pacquiao, a three-bout extravaganza that mesmerised the boxing universe. Well known as the ‘Dinamita’, Juan has achieved much in his illustrious career and
is duly ranked alongside the ace pugilists in the division.
Juan, who returned to his hometown after the passage of 19 long years, excitedly shared his feelings and said that he wants to make his people proud adding that he wants to put forth a startling performance and will be highly motivated because of his home
crowd.
Juan remarked, “It’s a great motivation to be home. Very satisfying and also a great responsibility. In Mexico people are knowledgeable about boxing. I’m preparing myself very well. It’s a tough bout, but I want to offer a great fight on April 14 to show
everyone how proud I am of being Mexican to fight again at home.”
His Saturday night opponent Fedchenko is seriously outclassed by Juan’s stats. The incumbent WBO European light welterweight champion, Serhiy, has been in a total 31 bouts and came out victorious in 30. He has collected 13 of his total wins by KO.
Juan will definitely try to collect an early knockout win otherwise he might lose the bout via unanimous decision if Serhiy decodes his brawling style. The rest of the pay-per-view is still to be decided and more bouts would be added soon.
