Juan Manuel Marquez: I want to prove who is better – Boxing News
Finally, Manny Pacquiao met Juan Manuel Marquez at a press conference, part of their three-city international media tour yesterday in Beverly Hills, California. Both the fighters will clash for the fourth time on December 8 this year. Since it will be the
fourth bout, both of them are well aware of each other’s weaknesses and strengths.
When asked about why he chose to fight Marquez again, Pacquiao stated, “I want to [erase] the doubt in the minds of the fans so I want to show the old Manny Pacquiao when I was 24 or 25 years old, the hungry Manny Pacquiao fighting in the ring.”
Pacquiao has won two out of three fights against Marquez, while the first one ended up in a tie. However, all three fights were close and even though Pacquiao won twice, most analysts and fans believe Marquez was the better fighter in the ring.
“I want to prove who is better and I want the referee to raise my hand,” revealed Marquez. “I’m training very hard for December 8. I’ll be ready to fight and I’ll be ready to win again. I didn’t like the judges decision because everyone knows what happened
in the last three fights.”
Filipino fight sensation Manny Pacquiao went head to head against Juan Manuel Marquez last year. The fight was close but Pacquiao managed to win via majority decision. Unfortunately, it was the first fight for Pacquiao where fans booed at him when the decision
was announced. Marquez felt he was robbed of his victory.
Pacquiao then went onto face unbeaten American fighter Timothy Bradley this year on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the Filipino pride lost his WBO title to Bradley via split decision. However, this time, fans were with him and they
booed at the judges for declaring Bradley the winner when Pacquiao clearly had the upper hand during the fight.
Now, Pacquiao has decided to fight Marquez on December 8, overlooking Bradley’s challenge for a rematch. According to Pacquiao, he wants to prove his mettle against Marquez by knocking him out.
