Juan Manuel Marquez: I will be more aggressive against Pacquiao – Boxing News
Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez is heading towards probably the most important fight of his career, against Filipino fight king Manny Pacquiao. Marquez, who will be facing the former WBO welterweight titlist for the fourth time, asserted that he would be more aggressive and explosive against Pacquiao, to ensure a knockout victory.
Marquez performed a public workout on Wednesday at the Romanza Gym in Mexico City for the fight against Pacquiao that is scheduled for December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“We’ve done a lot of preparation and we know how to fight Pacquiao and how to win,” said Marquez.
“I’m convinced that we were superior in the past but the judges said otherwise. Now we are going for a victory that leaves room for doubt. A resounding victory. We are going for the knockout to make it clear once and for all who is better,” he added.
According to Marquez, he is 100 percent prepared to face the most explosive fighter in the world Manny Pacquiao with even more explosion.
“I’ll be faster, more explosive and more aggressive. I’ll be much better than a year ago. Pacquiao can say whatever he wants. I’ll be 100% prepared to knock him out and offer another great fight to the boxing fans,” he added.
On the other hand, Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach are of the view that Marquez was slower last year, compared to his previous two fights against Pacquiao. Therefore, Roach is preparing Pacquiao to be faster and stronger than ever before.
The fight will be the fourth and probably the last of the Pacquiao-Marquez saga. Pacquiao has already won two out of three fights, one via unanimous decision and one via split decision. However, since Marquez is more or less his equal, doubts have always been casted over Pacquiao’s ability to defeat Marquez.
Now, Pacquiao believes it is time to show the world that he indeed can knockout Marquez. When the fight was announced, Pacquiao promised his fans that they will see a dominant victory over Marquez, regardless of what the circumstances bring.
