Juan Manuel Marquez considering retirement after losing to Manny Pacquiao – Boxing news
The Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, who is the current World Boxing Association Super, World Boxing Organisation and The Ring Lightweight World Champion, has made a staggering revelation as he insisted he is not sure of pursuing his boxing career.
“What I need to do is sit down with my family and my camp and make a decision about continuing in this sport or just simply retire from the sport,” Marquez said.
The 38-year-old Marquez took on the eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao, in their highly-anticipated trilogy fight last week on November 12, 2011 at the MGM
Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Marquez had a controversial ending to his previous two fights against Pacquiao and he desperately waited three years to avenge his defeat against the Filipino star but on the fight night, he once again lost on a controversial majority point’s decision. Therefore,
the Mexican is now uncertain about his future.
Marquez, who is now a winner of 53 of his 60 professional fights (1 Draw), with 39 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, told the media this was the biggest fight of his career thus far and he could have become the overall winner but he was robbed
for the third time.
“The thing that makes me think of retirement is because I have prepared myself so hard for 18 years. This was the biggest fight of my career. It was a robbery. They robbed me,” he said.
Meanwhile, Marquez’s trainer, Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Beristain, backed his fighter as he also claimed the result was not fair.
“I feel that this is a joke for the people, for Manny and for Juan Manuel Marquez to have a decision like this,” Nacho said.
Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, who is one of the most well-known boxing trainers in the world, recently admitted Marquez deserves a rematch with his man which means there can be another fight between these two pugilists.
However, let’s see if Pacquiao really offers Marquez another chance with him in the ring or not.
