Juan Manuel Marquez might face Manny Pacquiao for third time very soon – Boxing news
Robert “Bob” Arum, founder and CEO of Top Rank, a professional boxing promotion company based in Las Vegas said Juan Manuel Marquez can make his wish come true for a third fight with boxing super star Manny Pacquiao soon.
However, he said that will happen only if Manny Pacquiao is not able to arrange his fight with Floyd Mayweather Junior to become the pound-for-pound boxing fighter.
While replying to a query Arum said, “Our priority has always been Floyd Mayweather. But if Floyd isn’t available for one reason or another, Marquez would make a very, very good opponent in November.”
Manny Pacquiao has been impressive in his title defence against Shane Mosley fighting at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Leon Panoncillo was the supervisor of that mega fight.
The next Pacquiao fight is expected to be in November 2011 with Floyd Mayweather. Nothing regarding the fight has been decided yet. However, boxing fans all around the world are eager to hear latest updates of the much-anticipated clash.
Bob Arum, the promoter of Manny Pacquiao said that he has not signed any contract with Floyd Mayweather yet. However, the owner of Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones sat next to Mayweather at the Super Bowl in his box.
Sharing his meeting details with Mayweather, Arum said, “He hugged me and we at least broke the barrier socially so something could be expected to come of that. However, the intellectual promoter revealed that we did not talk about anything related to boxing
because it would not have been appropriate time to discuss boxing.”
Arum also said that the famous actor Jamie Fox came to him and said Floyd Mayweather has expressed his desire to fight Manny Pacquiao.
The first clash between Pacquiao and Marquez was seen as controversial draw. Judge Burt Clemens declared that Marquez scored the first round incorrectly 10-7 when he should have scored it 10-6 against Pacman. The rematch was even more controversial when
Pacquiao won by a split decision by knocking him down in round four.
If Juan Manuel Marquez is able to fight against the world’s best pound-for-pound boxer, the bout is surely going to be an interesting one.
