Juan Manuel Marquez says he will fight Manny Pacquiao toe-to-toe – Boxing news
The current World Boxing Association, World Boxing Organisation and The Ring Magazine Lightweight World Champion, Juan Manuel Marquez, has revealed he is going to fight toe-to-toe against the eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao on November 12, 2011.
The Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, will step in the ring against the number one pound-for-pound boxer of the world Manny Pacquiao in November at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
This is the third time both pugilists will be one-on-one against each other and Pacquiao leads Marquez by 1-0, as their first fight ended in a draw.
Since this fight will also be staged at the same place where Pacquiao easily downed ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley recently, Marquez stated he is not going to be like Mosley.
Marquez reckons this time he can upset the Fighting Pride of Philippines, Manny Pacquiao. He commented he will not be like Mosley, who kept himself in the defensive mode for most of the fight and in the end lost by a unanimous decision.
He said he is going to fight toe-to-toe against his 32-year-old opponent. He further added he will put in his best effort and will give the people what they want.
He remarked, “It will definitely not be like the Pacquiao-Shane Mosley fight where Mosley kept running. As best as I can, I am going to fight him toe-to-toe and give the people what they want.”
He told the media that he believes he has the same speed as of Pacquiao so he will not be putting in any special efforts.
“I believe I have the speed and the power to match him (Pacquiao). I will train the same way with more power and speed and I need to have that at its best,” he said.
The 37-year-old Marquez in the end revealed he is very excited for this bout, as he knows he is preparing for a great victory for his country.
“I am preparing for this great victory for Mexico. I am going to come in strong and I am expecting a victory. We are going to have a great fight and everybody is going to love this fight,” he said.
