Juan Manuel Marquez says he will prove he won last two fights against Manny Pacquiao – Boxing news
The Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, who is the current World Boxing Association Super, World Boxing Organisation and The Ring Lightweight World Champion, has vowed he will prove that he won the last two fights against the eight-division world champion
and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao.
The 38-year-old Marquez, who will mix up with the Fighting Pride of Philippines, Pacquiao, in their much-anticipated trilogy bout on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, insisted he was robbed in his last two fights against the
Pac-Man and he will prove it to everyone by winning this time.
“I have to prove who won those two fights,” Marquez said during an HBO documentary.
Marquez, who has won 53 of his 59 professional fights (1 Draw), with 39 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, first met Pacquiao back in May 2004 and their fight ended up a highly-controversial draw. Their second meeting which came four years later
in March 2008 also had a similar story, as this time Pacquiao was awarded a split decision over Marquez. Therefore, Marquez wants to win their concluding fight to prove himself as an overall winner.
While speaking on his inclusion, Marquez remarked, “Boxing community sees Manny Pacquiao as a best pound-for-pound fighter. I think that’s why I’ve always wanted this fight. He knows he hasn’t beaten me decisively and it’s like a thorn in my side that I
want to pull out, because I want to make it clear who really won.”
In the end, Marquez stated he would have been in Pacquiao’s place, if he had won their last two fights.
“To have won those two fights would have put me where Pacquiao is now. It would have changed everything,” said Marquez.
The Pacquiao-Marquez trilogy bout is being considered as the fight of the year. Moreover, it is one of the most anticipated bouts of this year.
Let’s see if Marquez can really see off Pacquiao this time because Pacquiao is currently considered as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
