Juan Manuel Marquez says his fight with Manny Pacquiao is personal for him too – Boxing news
The Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, who is the current World Boxing Association Super, World Boxing Organisation and The Ring Lightweight World Champion, has insisted it is not only Manny Pacquiao who is taking the fight personally.
“It is personal for me too,” said Marquez. “If he is upset about me saying that I won the first two fights, I am upset that I haven't got the decisions.”
Marquez and Pacquiao for the first time met in May 2004 and their fight ended up in a highly controversial draw. Their second meeting which came four years later in March 2008 also had a similar story as this time Pacquiao was awarded a split decision over
the Mexican.
Marquez, who is more commonly known as the Mexican Dinamita, since then has always claimed that he was robbed. He also went to Philippines recently wearing a t-shirt saying that he beat Pacquiao in their previous two fights.
Though the 38-year-old Marquez, who has won 53 of his 59 professional fights (1 Draw), with 39 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, admitted the Filipino star is not happy with him saying he won the last two fights, he said he was also not happy
with the way his fights ended.
“Now it's time to shed doubt over who the best fighter is,” Marquez told via conference call while wrapping up his training camp in Mexico. “I want to win this fight because I believe I won the first two fights.”
“We are not the only ones saying that we won those first two fights. A lot of people out there, a lot of fans and a lot of the media, agree,” Marquez added.
Marquez and Pacquiao, who is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion, (Super Champion) will lock horns in their much-anticipated trilogy fight on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las
Vegas, Nevada.
All that is left to see is weather Marquez can really beat the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Pacquiao, in their concluding fight or not because this fight will decide who the real winner amongst them is.
