Juan Manuel Marquez starts training for December showdown 8 – Boxing News
Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez is quite ambitious when it comes to his fights against Filipino fight king Manny Pacquiao. The Mexican legend will be facing Pacquiao for the fourth time on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Marquez has already
promised his fans a dominating win over Pacquiao and so he has started his sparring sessions. According to reports, Marquez is training ‘hard’ to make sure the Filipino submits.
“Juan and I met to outline the roadmap to follow. We agreed that [today] we'll begin the hard work for this fight. [Today] we will start boxing with respective sparring partners, and do a total of six rounds,” said Ignacio Beristain, Marquez trainer, in
his recent interview.
Furthermore, Beristain has four southpaw fighters to spar against Marquez for 120 rounds. In other words, Beristain wants to ensure that the Mexican is fully prepared for Pacquiao’s left hooks and straight left before he enters the ring.
According to Beristain, the sparring “is more than enough to get him (Marquez) in great conditions.”
Ramses Rodrgiquez and Daniel Santillo are two of Marquez’s sparring partners who have already arrived at the camp, according to Beristain.
Not just Marquez, even Pacquiao is quite ambitious to make the fight an epic battle. Pacquiao has already promised fans a knockout win over Marquez.
“I want to make the fight exciting. My concern is to make people happy that they watched or fight. I don’t want the fans to be bored. I need to be more aggressive in this fight. I want this fight to be different from the last one. I want a win that isn’t
close like the last three. It has to be a decisive victory,” said Pacquiao while announcing the fight against Marquez.
Even Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, wants the Filipino pound for pound king to put Marquez on the mat, to end the rivalry once and for all. Pacquiao has already won two of their previous three fights but never with a knockout. The former WBO welterweight
titlist has defeated Marquez via unanimous decision and majority decision, and this time he wants to do it via knockout.
