Juan Manuel Marquez surprised over Manny Pacquiao’s decision – Boxing News
Although Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao real bad, he still feels surprised learning that the Filipino has accepted his offer. In his recent interview, Marquez spoke about the entire scenario, revealing his excitement over
fighting Pacquiao for the fourth time.
“I always thought that Pacquiao wouldn’t fight with me again,” said Marquez.
Pacquiao and Marquez have fought thrice. The first fight ended up in a tie, while Pacquiao won the next two. However, Marquez believes that he had won all three fights against Pacquiao.
“I was worried about it and I was surprised he accepted the fight with me but now I am very happy,” he added.
“I will train very hard for this fight. Pacquiao knows me and I know him. I am going to work on my speed for this fight. I thought I won the first three fights but they were close. I need to add a new wrinkle in this fight and make it decisive this time.”
Marquez and Pacquiao are set to fight each other on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It will be the fourth time both fighters will lock horns against each other. Marquez believes it is about time for him to beat Pacquiao in a decisive manner so
that everyone knows who is the better fighter.
Even in his recently released book, Marquez revealed about his rivalry with Pacquiao. According to the Mexican fighter, he defeated the Filipino all three times but he was not awarded the victory due to some ‘external pressure’.
Marquez and Pacquiao are considered the top two welterweights of today in the world of boxing. Many analysts rate Marquez as the only person who can neutralize the power and speed of the Pac-man in the ring.
Nevertheless, no matter what Marquez says, he still does not have an official victory over the Filipino fight sensation. He still needs to dominate the ‘world’s most explosive fighter’ in the ring in order to persuade the judges to regard him as the victor.
If Marquez can do that this time, he surely will have at least one win over Pacquiao in his portfolio before retiring.
