Juan Martin Del Potro defeats Flavio Cipolla 6-1, 6-4, 6-3
World number 21 Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina thrashed world number 112 Flavio Cipolla of Italy in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 in the first round of Wimbledon Championships at the All England Club in London on Tuesday. The
Argentinean took an hour and 39 minutes to undo his opponent in a one-sided contest.
Del Potro was almost flawless in the first set as he lost only a single game, breaking his opponent three times and winning the set 6-1. The Argentinean capitalised on three of the five break point opportunities he received on
Cipolla’s serve and did not face any break point on his own serve in the first set.
The 22-year-old broke the Italian in the seventh game of the second set, consolidating on it and winning the set 6-4. Del Potro fired eight aces and won 79 percent of the first service points in the second set. The Argentinean
bagged 50 percent of the net approach points in the second set.
Del Potro needed a single break of serve in the third set to seal it 6-3. The right-handed won amazingly 100 percent of the first service points in the third set.
The Argentinean is drawn to take on world number 73 Olivier Rochus of Belgium in the round of 64.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beats Go Soeda 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2
French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, ranked 19th in the world, knocked out world number 131 Go Soeda of Japan in straight sets 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2 to advance to the second round. The match lasted for two hours and twelve minutes.

bagged 41 percent of the receiving points in the first set.
Tsonga and Soeda broke each other once in the second set, taking it to a tie-break. The French served brilliantly, delivering eleven aces and winning 77 percent of the first service points in the second set. The six feet and two
inches tall converted one of the five break points he received on Soeda’s serve and saved five of the six break points on his own serve in the second set.
