the German’s run in the event beating him down in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 effortlessly. It took the gigantic Argentine an hour and 20 minutes to finish off winning the semis seat.
Playing at Wiener Stadthalle, Vienna, Austria the match had a blurry prediction as who would win because Haas had been in his best form as well. However, Del Potro made a strong run and won the match and led the rivalry, head-to-head,
two games to one.
With the two walking down the court, both players got a huge applause from the stands. Warming up, the referee flipped the coin for the toss. Winning the toss Haas stood to serve first. Comparatively, Del Potro had a stronger position
as he had been in tremendous form.
The fixture flared up with Del Potro breaking the German former world No.9 in game one with a double breakpoint winner. Continuing with his first serve, the Argentine world No.15 served out game 2 and led the scoreboard, 2-0. Rolling
down his side of the scoreboard, Haas won his first game of the set to cut down the lead to 2-1.
Unable to break back, Haas dropped down another game as the storming Argentine pulled ahead bagging game 4. With scores at 3-1, Del Potro broke Haas for the second time in the set to extend his lead to 4-1. Left with just two more
game to bag the set, the 23-year-old giant blistered two out of the next three games to finish off winning, 6-2.
The 33-year-old world No.273 followed up with set two hoping to level up the match scores. Serving out game one while saving a breakpoint, Haas initiated the set. However, the raging Argentine pulled the scores level right away,
1-1.
Unable to counter the Argentine the veteran could only hang on and not give away any silly points. Equalling up scores at 2-2, 3-3 and lastly on 4-4 was the maximum the German could do. Levelling down the scores at 4-4 serving
out game eight, Del Potro broke the lower ranked veteran in game nine to lead the set, 5-4.
Left out with just one more win, Del Potro finished up smoothly with a triple match point win to close the fixture in two straight sets with mere difficulty.
With the prediction going all the way for the Argentine, he now enters the semis stage of the ATP World Tour 250 event. Facing the sixth seed, South African, Kevin Anderson, Del Potro has to practice a lot to get through the world
No.32 regarding his performance on tour.
