http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 winger Juan Mata has urged his teammates to treat the upcoming clash against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League as a final and ensure they make it through to the next round.
If the Blues somehow manage to overturn a two goal first leg deficit, they will be amongst the few teams to do it. Mata revealed he was confident his side possessed the ability to do so and urged them to be at their best when they faced the Serie A side
on Wednesday.
For some the Blues 3-1 defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in
terms of making successful comebacks.
Mata said in an interview:
“In football, nothing is impossible. At Stamford Bridge, this Champions League, we had good results in the group - 3-0, 2-0 and 5-0.
All the supporters, for sure, will be cheering us. It's a final for us and I think we can do it.”
The 23-year-old believed the Blues needed to have an attacking mentality going into the game, which would guarantee more of a chance of scoring the much needed two goals. He admitted they were eyeing the upcoming match as a final, meaning they would be taking
it very seriously.
He revealed:
“From the first minute, we have to try to create chances to score. We know that they have very, very good strikers.
We have to be careful with them but we are going to press them from the first minute.”
Meanwhile, speaking on the departure of manager Andre Villas-Boas, Mata revealed it had been difficult for the team, especially him. It was the Portuguese manager who had brought Mata to Stamford Bridge and for that Mata thanked the 34-year-old manager.
Mata continued:
“It wasn't easy, it wasn't easy, because you know we had a change, a big, big change.”
Villas-Boas was sacked after a string of poor performances, leaving the Blues under the management of caretaker boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo.
