Juan Mata praises http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097, offers support to Andre Villas-Boas
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 winger Juan Mata claimed Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was a legend and had done well to score the winning goal for the Blues after being dropped from the squad. Lampard’s position in the starting XI has not been secure under Andre Villas-Boas
and the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 midfielder showed he still had it in him to play top level football.
The 33-year-old was left out of the starting team against Valencia and Manchester City, but made a match winning impact when he was brought on. After the match, Lampard claimed he could still go on to play every game in the season and did not want to quit
before his contract with the club expired, despite reports linking him to a move to LA Galaxy.
Mata said while speaking to reporters:
“Lampard is a legend here, a legend who keeps on providing a lot of good to the club. He is a great presence to have in the dressing room and, for me; he is a standard-bearer for the entire world of football.”
According to Mata, Lampard could still go on to play a major role for the Blues in the upcoming season. The midfielder has scored 178 goals so far in all competitions for the London side until now and with the way he is going, he can go on to score plenty
more. The winger claimed Lampard was a legend and had belief that he could still help the Blues to silverware.
He revealed:
“He has the experience to remain calm, even when he's not playing, to know that there will be times when he will play because there are so many games.”
As for the team not supporting Andre Villas-Boas, Mata claimed the team was a 100% behind the Portuguese manager. He revealed that the squad had shown their support by results against Newcastle United, Valencia and Manchester City. He denied reports that
the 34-year-old manager did not have the team’s support and confirmed that they were supportive of him through thick and thin.
“The team has shown in the worst moments that we are united behind the manager.”
