Juan Mata’s father confirms Arsenal bid for Valencia star
Juan Mata’s father has gone on to confirm that Arsenal have in fact made an offer for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 forward.
The Gunners had been linked with a move for the Spanish winger, but so far, it seemed like those links were nothing more than rumours.
Mata, who has had a highly impressive season, having won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the Under – 21 European Championship, this summer, had been linked to a number of clubs. The likes of Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 were all rumoured to
be interested in landing the winger.
Nonetheless, is has now been confirmed that the Gunners were the first to lodge an official bid for the player, which was unfortunately turned down by the Spanish club.
Mata’s father, when talking to the press in regards to Arsenal’s offer for the player is quoted to have said: "Valencia simply rejected their offer. After some hesitation they answered ‘no’ to the Gunners’ offer.
"So my son remains a Valencia player, for now. But I don’t think it’s their last offer."
At the same time, Mata’s dad also stated that despite the interest from the North London club, he felt that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.
He added: "There are several offers for Mata and I think that Arsenal will come forward again. The situation is still evolving.
"Are Inter Milan one of the interested teams? I know my son holds Milan in high esteem. We’ll see if Inter will come forward directly."
These comments have now helped us determine two things. Firstly, Arsenal did in fact go ahead and make an approach for Mata, despite it being deemed that the team would miss out on the opportunity to land the player. Secondly, despite taking the initiative
for the first time, it seems like Arsenal are going to lose out on the possibility of landing the player, who seems content on moving to Italy instead.
Nonetheless, despite that fact Arsenal are bound o not give up that easily on trying to land Mata. It is very rare for the team to actually make such a massive offer for a player and now that they have, they are going to see it out all the way till the end.
Mata in theory is going to be a natural fit in the Premier League, given his style of play and it is now up to the Gunners to help convince the player, that his future lays at the Emirates, as opposed to the San Siro.
