Juan Pablo Montoya mocks the look of 2012 F1 cars – Formula 1 news
Juan Pablo Montoya mocked the new looks of the 2012 Formula 1 cars while he claimed that leaving F1 was not regretful at all.
After being in McLaren and Williams, Montoya is now driving as a star in NASCAR. Moreover, he has won 7 Grands Prix in his F1 career then in 2006 he left McLaren after saying good bye to his F1 career while he was in the middle of the season. Immediately
afterwards, he went to drive in the premier American autoracing event.
Driving in NASCAR, Montoya is few pounds heavier than his time in F1. Moreover, when he was asked about whether he had ever felt sorry about the shift in his career, he expressed to Switzerland’s Motorsport Aktuell, “Not for a second.”
Moreover, the 36 years old Columbian driver said, “Of course I have some fond memories of formula one, but I don’t miss it. I miss some of the people I met there. But the racing? Not at all.”
However, Montoya admitted that he still watch some races but overall found very little interest.
Montoya has criticised the new looks of the cars for the forthcoming season which have platypus chic noses.
“F1 is a joke,” he blasted. “It’s sad they can build cars like that — just look at the new noses.”
Moreover, there are many other personalities who have made remarks on the strange looks of the F1 cars for the upcoming season. For instance before the start of the first pre-season test at the Jerez circuit in Spain, the technical director of Caterham,
Michael Gascoyne had said that the cars will feature quite strange noses.
However, the team principal of Mercedes AMG Petronas, Ross Brawn had said that teams designed the noses of the cars due to the compromise of using the chassis of the last year. Nevertheless, he said that F1 could have spared the ugly looks of the cars for
the upcoming season.
Furthermore, according to the reports, there were teams like Marussia which have featured a conventional design of the nose as take on by McLaren rather than featuring the slandered ‘stepped nose.’
