Juan Pereyra acquires Men’s 800m freestyle gold: Day four – Maria Lenk Trophy, Rio de Janeiro
Juan Pereyra of FIAT/MINAS acquired gold medal of the Men’s 800m freestyle on day four of the 2012 Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Friday, April 27.
Pereyra remained considerably faster form his competitors throughout the distant freestyle event. With his wonderful efforts and utter determination, he showed no mercy to his challengers and grabbed gold medal of the event.
He kept his competitors at a bay and seized the crown of the discipline by submitting a time of 7 minutes and 58.40 seconds.
His gold winning effort was trailed by Marcos V Ferrari De Oliveira, who stayed 2.20 seconds behind and hit the finishing blockade for silver medal by producing a time of 8 minutes and 00.60 seconds.
Subsequently, Charles Gipson Houchin of FIAT/MINAS remained nearly four seconds behind his foregoing finisher and stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 04.68 seconds.
The fourth spot of the race was secured by Lucas Cruz Kanieski, who stayed nearly three seconds slower from him and ended his swim in a time of 8 minutes and 07.21 seconds.
Kanieski was trailed by Luiz Rogerio Arapiraca of UNISANTA, who remained 2.05 seconds behind the fourth fastest finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 09.26 seconds.
Arapiraca was traced by Victor Hugo Ribeiro Colonese, who remained considerably slower from the fifth position holder and tapped the finishing end with an effort of 8 minutes and 14.43 seconds for sixth position.
Subsequently, Colonese remained nearly two body lengths away from his following challenger, Lucas Bittencourt Azevedo, who hit the finishing blockade for seventh position by submitting a time of 8 minutes and 17.97 seconds.
Last position of the 800m event was secured by Armando S Negreiros of CRF/RJ, who ended his swim in eighth place by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 18.05 seconds.
In addition, the session ended after the completion of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner while the position holders were awarded medals for their gruelling efforts at the medal distribution ceremony after the session.
