Juan Roman Riquelme unhappy with Boca Juniors' start
Boca Juniors playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme has lambasted the Argentinian club's current form after losing five of their last eight games in the Apertura League.
Riquelme, who returned to the legendary club in 2007 after spending nearly six seasons with Barcelona and Villareal in the Spanish league, said that his team has failed to find the right tactics during the start of the current season.
"We have not found a style, when one goes to the stadium you do not know what you are going to find. We have still not found a way to play. I am a fan of this club and above I like the team to play well...At the moment we are not finding a playing style
and this worries me the most," the midfielder told TyC Sports.
Riquelme, who has 51 international appearances to his name, has often been the player on which the team has relied for its passing rhythm and attacking creativity.
Three points a must to build confidence
The 32-year-old added that his team must earn three points by any means necessary in order to begin the process of regaining confidence in their style of play.
"We have to start thinking about every game, finding a rhythm and not playing well one week and badly the next, a way to make our play more consistent. If we are lucky enough to win some consecutive games it is going to give us more confidence."
Riquelme has missed several games this season due to a knee injury, but the Boca number ten, whose predecessors include the likes of Diego Maradona and Carlos Tevez, said he hopes to return soon.
"I know that when I am at 100%, I am going to be an important part of the team. I get bored on Sundays now that I am away from the pitch, it is not a nice thing to say for my family but I want to play."
