Juan Sebastian Cabal and Eduardo Schwank labour into semis of the Men’s Doubles – French Open 2011
The Colombian Argentinean duo of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Eduardo Schwank battled past Italian team of Daniele Bracciali and Potito Starace in a three set mouth watering match to advance into the semi-finals of the Roland Garros
2011, second of the four Grand Slam event held in Paris, France.
The Colombian Argentinean pair took almost two hours to triumph over their fellow unseeded pair to book a spot in the last four at Stade Roland Garros. They displayed their awe-inspiring skills to register a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over
the Italians.
Cabal and Schwank confidently entered Court Two and calmly held their opening serve to level the scores at 1-1. Later, they held their entire serves plausibly and converted one out of three breakpoint opportunities to their advantage
to bag the opener with a 6-4 score line in just half an hour. They produced a lower first serve share and committed more double faults but the earned a spectacular 88 percent win on it.
Bracciali and Starace re-structured in the second set and registered an impressive 71 percent win on their lower first serve share. They lost their serve once but roared back by converting two out of three breakpoint opportunities
to their advantage to seal the set by winning six games to four. In addition to this, the Italians saved six out of seven breakpoint opportunities to help win the equaliser easily in forty-five minutes.
The Colombian Argentinean pair raised their level of game in the decider where they not only kept their entire serves convincingly but also converted two out of six breakpoint opportunities to their advantage to clinch the set
with an assuring 6-2 score line. They clobbered a slightly lower first serve share but with their amazing co-ordination, Cabal and Schwank earned a plausible 73 percent win on it.
The pair entered this major clay court event confidently and to everyone surprise, they made into the semi-finals. Enroute to semis, they stunned eight seeds, South African Wesley Moodie and Belgian d**k Norman in straight sets
in the opening round. Cabal and Schwank then triumphed over British German pair of Colin Fleming and Philipp Marx and the Swede Australian pair of Simon Aspelin and Paul Hanley in the pre-quarter rounds.
Up next for winning combination of the Colombian and the Argentinean is the winner of the match between top seeds, American Bryan Brothers, and fifth seeds, the Indo Pak Express, Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.
