Judd Trump battles hard to oust Dominic Dale in Round 1: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Runner up in the 2011 World Snooker Championship, England’s Judd Trump struggled against the Welshman Dominic Dale but finally he was able to clinch the first round victory against him. He defeated the Welshman by the score line of 10-7 after firing some
outstanding snooker shots.
The Bristolian potter regained his confidence in the third session of the game and bounced back to claim the victory.
The pair went neck-to-neck in the first two sessions as both players had a blast to finish the first day proceedings 5-4. Trump was suffering from sickness but still the Bristolian cueman managed to play well in the match up.
Third session of the game began with Dale’s comeback as he took two frames to pull level at 6-6. After that he could win only one frame while Trump swept the table in four frames and hit the victory by the score line of 10-7.
During the third session, the 22-year-old Trump faced some resistance from Dale but the Ace fought back to nudge his opponent down. After his victory, Trump looked really exhausted due to the sickness but at the same hand he was happy with his victory.
Before coming to the Championship, Trump was looking to make an appearance in the tournament and claim the title he lost in the previous season at the hands of John Higgins.
While speaking to World Snooker in his post match interview, Trump said, “I'm tired, yesterday I felt worse, but today I'm more drained. I haven't eaten for two days, I tried to have some soup last night but other than that it's just been bread really, so
I'm just glad to get out of there.”
Mr. Haircut 100 added, “It's the closest I've ever been to pulling out in a professional tournament. If it had been a smaller event like a PTC then maybe I wouldn't have played. But I knew I had to go out there even if I was 7-2 behind or 6-3 just to give
myself a chance today.”
Trump has now booked his place in the second round where he will meet the winner of opening round match between Ali Carter and Mark Davis.
