Judd Trump believes falling behind Ding Junhui will be real test: World Snooker Championship 2011
The emerging sensation in snooker Judd Trump is at the table with the Chinese ace Ding Junhui in their semi-final clash of the World Snooker Championship 2011 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
The youngster feels great after leading Ding 5-3 in the first session but on the other hand, he also believes that situation will become very tough for him if he falls behind.
The 24-year-old Ding stunned the Bristolian with a cracking century clearance of 102 in the first frame and got off the mark with 0-1. However, Trump replied tremendously in the second frame when he potted a superb 110 century knock to take the frame in
one visit at 110-0 and pull level with 1-1.
The Ace, Trump, clinched back-to-back frames at 52-37 and 89-38 to gain a two-frame lead over the world number four with 3-1. A couple of stunning half-century breaks of 51 and 59 from Trump extended his match lead to 5-3 in the end.
Although Trump is in the lead but the Star of the East, Ding, has the tendency to bounce back from nowhere and totally change the game into a topsy-turvy affair with his astounding potting skills. Trump knows if he lacks even a little during the match, he
will face a brutal test from Ding.
Trump said, “It would be quite hard if I fell behind here. It might become a little bit daunting being my real first time out there in front of everyone. But I think I'm a good enough player to cope with that, put it to the back of my head and keep going.”
“I think he (Ding) is starting to play his best now,” Trump added. “He's never really played that well at the Crucible up until this year, but I still think he's got a lot to give in this tournament. He could easily run away with it if he starts to play
well.”
Ad interim, John Higgins is trailing 5-3 behind the Ebbw Vale potter, Mark Williams after the first session of their semi-final at the Championship. The match will resume on Friday, April 29 in the evening at the Crucible.
