Judd Trump believes he is invincible - 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
The world number fourteen, Judd Trump, has told the media that he thinks he is invincible at the moment and can claim the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship, which is being held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
He said "I feel I can win the title. I don't want to give off a too cocky image, but I'm very confident in myself and I think you need to be."
The twenty-one-year-old, Trump, who recently lifted his first ranking event's trophy in China, has put shock on the cards at the home of snooker. He impressively outplayed the defending champion, Neil Robertson, in his first round and then it was Martin Gould in the second round who succumbed to him. In his quarter-final round match he demolished the former 2006 world champion and last year’s runner-up, Graeme Dott, by a frame score of 13-5.
Trump made his first appearance at the Crucible at the age of 17 and this is his second appearance ever.
"I do feel a little bit invincible at the moment, it's a good feeling to have," Trump said. "But at any stage of this tournament anybody could beat me 13-3 or 13-4 because the standard is so high. But I know I can do that to the rest of the players."
Trump will for the first time play a single table match at the Crucible, as it is the semi-final now. He also expressed his feeling by saying "I think I'll go out and enjoy it a little more now. I've got the whole crowd to entertain now, which is going to be good, rather than having just half the arena to myself. I think I'll go out there and enjoy the experience."
The Bristolian Ace, Trump, has set up a clash with the Chinese top cueist, Ding Junhui, in the semi-final. This will be an entertaining match, as Ding is also looking in his prime form. Moreover he has also reached the semi-finals of the world snooker championship for the first time in his career. All is left to see whether Trump can really become the youngest world champion of this century or not.
