Judd Trump confident after winning against Shaun Murphy in Championship League Snooker
After the first day of Championship League Snooker Group 1 at the Crondon Park Golf Club in Stock, England’s Judd Trump barely made it on the fourth place with three match victories and qualified for the play-offs of the event. He faced world number one,
Mark Selby, in his semi-final encounter and beat him quite easily by 3-1 to surge into the final match against Shaun Murphy.
The final encounter was comparatively a tussling clash for the Bristolian potter, as he was up against one of snooker’s strongest contestants. Despite being junior in experience, Trump showed some excellent snooker skills against his veteran opponent and
managed to clinch a 3-2 victory after taking the decider frame.
After winning the 2011 UK Championship at the York Barbican Centre, the 22-year-old potter has achieved one of the most respectable positions in the game and currently, he has placed himself in the list of toughest opponents.
Speaking to local reporters at the conclusion of the championship, the Englishman said, “I saved my best performance for the final and I had missed quite a few shots every day, but then again everyone did and no one is that sharp after Christmas. Of the
competitions I’ve gone in, I’m doing well or winning in 50 per cent at the moment and that brings a lot of confidence and I’m taking more shots on.”
Mr. Haircut 100 added, “My game has improved by 50 per cent since this time last year and the confidence I’ve got is the main part of that. I’ve always been a good player but lacked that killer edge when playing on TV or in tournaments like this but now
I’m so confident.”
Trump has now booked his place in the Championship League Snooker Winners Group. At present, the only goal he might be thinking about is participating in the 2012 Masters and winning the title. The World Number Five cueist will meet compatriot and 2011 Australian
Goldfields Open winner, Stuart Bingham, in his first-round clash of 2012 Masters.
