Judd Trump cruises into the Quarter-final – 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
Bristolian Ace potter, Judd Trump, has beaten Martin Gould by a frame score of 13-6, in a best-of-25 second round match of the 2011 Bertfred.com World Snooker Championship, which is being staged at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
It was yet another impressive performance from the twenty-one-year-old, Trump, as he registered himself in the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship for the first time. He produced a commanding performance and held his nerves well under pressure.
The overall score-line between both players was 81-11, 73-33, 92-1, 26-66, 4-75, 44-64, 93-0, 71-43, 0-76, 108-1, 20-100, 69-18, 65-58 (respotted black), 75-34, 84-0, 73-1, 73-1, 37-70 and 76-33.
Trump ended his opening session with a 5-3 lead over his opponent, which he further extended to 11-5 in the second round. In the third session, the Pinner potter, Gould, clinched the opening frame to reduce the deficit but it was too late for him, as Trump
finished the match in the next two frames with modest breaks of 69 and 53 respectively, to book a place in the quarter-finals.
Trump, who previously ousted the defending champion, Neil Robertson, in his first round clash, has his eyes set on becoming the youngest world champion of this century.
The English snooker player has been very confident since winning his first ever ranking event title back in China. While talking to the media, Trump said, "I'm definitely super-confident. I'm on such a high, I've got used to winning whereas I was used to
losing before. The last month has exceeded my wildest expectations. I have to bring myself back to reality sometimes. I've only won two games, so it's nothing that special. I've still got a long way to go.”
Gould on the other hand appreciated his opponent’s effort and said, "He didn't really miss too much and I just sat comfortably in my chair and watched.”
Trump has now set up a potential clash with the former world champion, Graeme Dott, in the last-8. Dott had previously won the title in 2006 and will be looking to repeat the performance this time also.
