Judd Trump defeats Ding Junhui, 17-15: 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
The Chinese Sensation, Ding Junhui, has lost his battle to Judd Trump by a frame score of 17-15 in the best-of-thirty-three semi-final match of the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship. This event
is being held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
It was one of the best matches of the championship, as both players, who appeared for the reached the semi-finals for the first time ever, showcased their magnificent break-building skills. However in
the end it was the Bristolian Ace potter, Judd Trump, who came on the top to book a place in the final.
The overall score-line between both players was 121 (102)-0, 0-110 (110), 37-52; 38-89, 57-50,13-81 (51), 65-9; 0-74 (59), 92 (91)-23, 21-66 (51), 47-80 (31, 49), 78 (35)-19, 75 (75)-20, 67 (60)-56, 53-39,
71 (31)-34, 75 (66)-0, 0-77 (67), 0-83 (71), 77 (77)-22, 12-76 (61), 1-106 (102), 0-123 (123), 113 (87)-0, 26-75 (74), 1-89 (89), 145 (138)-1, 62 (47)-53, 127 (119)-0, 48 (48)-59 (38), 27-79 (68) and 29-105 (105).
The twenty-one-year-old dominated the first session with a two-frame lead at 5-3 before the Chinese bounced back into the game in the second session to turn his two frame deficit into a two-frame advantage
at 7-9. However in the third session the world number fourteen, Trump, again clawed back and levelled the scores at 12-12.
The world number four, Junhui, tried his best to pull the match in the fourth session, but the Englishman was always one step ahead. He dominated the first two frames with classy breaks of 74 and 89 to
take the lead.
The Chinese top cueist, however, also showed great temperament in the following twenty-seventh, as produced a mind-boggling championship highest break of 138 in it to come within one frame at 14-13.
In the twenty-eighth frame Trump was the first one to be among the balls, but he lost his nerves, breaking down on 51 and when the chance presented itself, Junhui slotted a magnificent break of 47 to level
the things at 14-14 before the mid-session interval.
The match started heading towards the Chinese when he knocked in another carving century break of 119 on resuming the game. He also got the first chance in the thirtieth frame, but this time he lost control
of his emotions, breaking down on 48 and was punished from his opponent, who again levelled the scores at 15-15.
The match was turning into a nail-biting finish. Trump, reeled off the last two frames to finish the matter off. He also enjoyed superb breaks of 68 and 105 in both frames, respectively.
Judd Trump will now play the current world number one, John Higgins, in the final of this year’s Betfred.com World Snooker Championship. All is left to see if Trump can really become the second youngest
Crucible winner after Stephen Hendry.
