Judd Trump dreams for Crucible title after leading Ding Junhui: World Snooker Championship 2011
The young Judd Trump has been performing marvellously in the World Snooker Championship 2011 so far without showing any signs of fear or pressure on his face as well as in his cue stick.
He is definitely aiming high at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield especially after he grabbed a 5-3 lead over the Chinese Ding Junhui in the first session of the semi-final clash.
The Bristolian potter Trump entered the arena as a qualifier but his performance in the first three stages of the World Snooker Championship has been no worse than any experienced player in the tournament.
The 21-year-old clinched his first-ever ranking title in Beijing when he defeated Mark Selby with 10-8 in the final of China Open 2011 on Sunday, April 3.
The Beijing hero Trump had never won a single match at the Crucible in his career before but this year he already has cruised past Neil Robertson (defending champion), Martin Gould and Graeme Dott with convincing scores. The youngster raced into the semi-final
without facing much resistance and is now dreaming for more success.
He said, “I definitely believed I could have a run here; I just didn’t think it would be quite this comfortable. I didn’t think I would blow everyone away the way I have. Apart from Neil, it has been quite relaxing. I haven’t had to stress too much, it’s
been a good ride to the semis. I do believe I could be the best.”
The critics have already painted him as the next Ronnie O’Sullivan. The Ace Trump is also a big fan of the ‘Rocket’ and hopes that one day he will also be an idol for some young people.
“I went to the Welsh Open once and met Ronnie O’Sullivan, who was my idol. I had a photo taken with him. For the younger people now who want photos with me, hopefully I can be their idol and people will look forward to watching me play and meeting me,” expressed
Trump.
Meanwhile, the Welsh Potting Machine Mark Williams has also gained a 5-3 lead over the world number one John Higgins after the first session of their semi-final clash at the Crucible.
