Judd Trump excited after win over Ronnie O’Sullivan in quarter-final: 2012 Masters
Another superb performance from the 22-year-old Judd Trump surged him into the semi-final of 2012 Masters Snooker tournament at the Alexandra Palace in Stock. The Bristolian potter defeated the former three-time World Snooker Champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan
in the quarter-final encounter by an easy score line of 6-2.
The youngster was outstanding at the baize from the very beginning as he gave no chance to the veteran potter and kept his hold over the match. Trump had played against the Rocket before at the 2011 UK Championship along with a couple of Players Tour Championship
(PTC) and a Premier League Snooker event. He knew all his strengths and weaknesses which helped him beat the Rocket quite easily.
The reigning UK Champion stormed into a superb 4-0 lead in the match. Trump attempted the maximum break of 147 in the fourth frame but was not able to achieve the feat. After that, O’Sullivan also tried his best to achieve the maximum break but failed as
he could compile only 141 points.
Speaking to World Snooker in his post match interview, the Ace said, “I didn't really expect to be 4-0 up at the interval, but I knew he still seemed interested and I knew it was going to be tough. When he came back out after the break he didn't really look
like missing, he was creating a lot of opportunities for himself.”
Mr. Haircut 100 added, “I just want to go my own way and do things a little bit different to people in the past, I want my own identity. I don't want to be seen as the next Ronnie O'Sullivan, I want to be seen as Judd Trump, not the person who copied Ronnie
O'Sullivan.”
The Bristol potter has reached the penultimate stage of the 2012 Masters Snooker tournament and will meet either Neil Robertson or Mark Williams in his semi-final clash. Trump feels ready to take on any player in the world and the cueist is looking forward
to add another snooker crown to his collection of titles.
