Judd Trump happy after beating Ronnie O’Sullivan in PTC 9 final at Antwerp in Belgium
World Number Seven ranked cueist, Judd Trump and former three-time world snooker champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan presented a sensational display of snooker skills in the all-England final match up of 2011 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 9 at Antwerp, in
Belgium. After a thrilling encounter, Trump finally managed to hit the title, winning the competition 4-3. Trump was quite happy with his victory.
The English pair contested to their standards in the final, ending the game in a decider frame. This PTC victory is the second in Trump’s account for the current season. Before him, only The Rocket had won two PTC events and thus, after O’Sullivan, Trump
has become the second player to win two PTC events in the same season.
During his interview with local media after the victory, Trump said, “It was a really special match because the atmosphere was like the World Championship final. Ronnie always gets more support so to deliver a performance like that against him gives me a
boost. He makes big breaks and puts you under it. Even at 3-1 up I was just hoping for a chance to win it.”
The 22-year-old added, “This season has been pretty good so far, I've been more than happy with the way I've played. I lost my first match in the two main ranking events but I've done well in the PTC events and I'm really looking forward to the UK Championship
and the Masters now because those are the big ones.”
After witnessing a successful snooker event in Belgium, Mr. Haircut 100, Trump, believes that there should be a full ranking event here. He reckons that the fans have been great at Antwerp and all snooker aces would be happy to return to Belgium.
Along with two PTC titles, The Ace has also shown some excellent form in the Premier League Snooker (PLS) as well. So far, he has won two titles at Premier League Snooker beating Matthew Stevens in PLS5 and former world champion, Australia’s Neil Robertson
in PLS7.
On the other hand, despite a convincing performance in the current season, the Wordsley potter, O’Sullivan has tumbled down at number 17 in the provisional seeding list revised after PTC9. It means the Englishman has to participate in a qualifier before
surging into the first round of upcoming PTC event. However, in the world rankings, the Essex Exocet is on Number 11 rank with 38620 points so far.
