Judd Trump happy after win over Stuart Bingham in first round: 2012 Masters
England’s Judd Trump has surged into the quarter-final encounter of 2012 Masters snooker event after ousting compatriot and 2011 Australian Goldfields Open champion, Stuart Bingham by the score line of 6-3. The Bristolian showed some outstanding form when
he was 2-3 down, to eventually claim his initial-round match win.
The first half of the match was a topsy-turvy affair as both potters were trying to overtake each other. Trump was in a lead after the first frame but Bingham then secured two superb frame victories to snatch the lead. The Bristolian pulled level at 2-2
but was nudged down by Bingham in the fifth frame to regain the lead, 2-3.
After that, it was an all Trump show because he stormed with four consecutive frame wins to clinch the match easily by 6-3. The overall frame score line of the match was 87-0 (T 87), 23-94 (B 69), 49-60, 114-5 (T 107), 36-74 (B 73), 86-1, 122-1 (T 121),
72-49, 68-54 (T 50). The 22-year-old Bristolian is quite happy with his performance in the match.
Speaking to local media at the conclusion of his contest, Trump said, “I felt good, I felt I scored well. He had a lead up to 3-2 and you never want to go two frames down when you're playing to six. I still think there's a lot of stuff I need to work on,
and there were a lot of disappointing things I did out there today. I seem to get in first every frame but then not capitalise on it.”
The 2011 World Snooker Championship runner-up added, “I'm still feeling confident, throughout the BBC events I've felt really good, and I felt and like I was able to play my best game today. Usually as I get further into a tournament I raise my game, and
now I need to raise it again.”
The Ace will be meeting the former three-time World Snooker Champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan in his quarter-final encounter at Alexandra Palace. Both cuemen previously contested at the 2011 UK Championship where Trump beat the veteran by the score line of 6-5.
