Judd Trump leads Ding Junhui, 5-3 – 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
The Bristolian Ace, Judd Trump, has ended his opening session with a 5-3 lead over Ding Junhui in their best-of-thirty-three semi-final match of the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship, which is being held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
It was once again an impressive performance from the twenty-one-year-old, Trump, as he held his nerves and produced a high standard game to gain a two-frame overnight lead over his opponent. The overall score-line between him and Junhui was 0-102 (102), 110-0 (110), 52-37, 89-38, 50-57, 81-13, 9-65 and 74-0.
The Chinese Sensation, Junhui, dominated the first frame, as he started off in a straight forward fashion with a classy century break of 102 to draw the first blood 0-1. However any early hopes were removed in the second frame by the rising star, Trump, who mopped up a mind-boggling match-highest century break of 110 to level the things at 1-1 and then he took the third frame with a top break of 42 to lead 2-1.
Fourth frame was cagey, as both players dug deep into the safety battle, but in the end it was once again the young Englishman who came on the top to gain a two-frame cushion, 3-1.
Remaining four frames were old fashioned, as there were no reasonable breaks made. However, both the players shared two frames each to make the scores 5-3 in favour of Trump.
The world number fourteen, Trump, who recently lifted his first ever ranking events trophy in China, has put a real shock on the cards. He entered the home of snooker as an 80/1 outsider,  but now he has become a real contender for the World title.
Trump who his playing in the semi-finals of the world champion for the first time said, "It would be quite hard if I fell behind here. It might become a little bit daunting being my real first time out there in front of everyone. But I think I'm a good enough player to cope with that, put it to the back of my head and keep going."
Both players will start off with their second session today. Let’s see if the Chinese Sensation makes a comeback against his opponent, who certainly is looking in his prime from.
