Judd Trump on his way to become people’s Champion after Jimmy White: World Snooker Championship 2011
The Bristolian youngster, Judd Trump, has become a new sensation in the world of snooker with his smashing playing style which resembles the way ‘Rocket’ Ronnie O’Sullivan and Jimmy White play the
game. His performance in the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship 2011, especially in the last-four stage, has made him the potential people’s Champion.
The left-hander, Trump, conquered the table outstandingly in his semi-final clash against the Chinese, Ding Junhui, and with a tremendous potting display, he grabbed the victory at the Crucible Theatre
in Sheffield on Saturday, April 30. The final score of the match was 17-15.
“Towards the end I’ve never felt nerves like it. Even though the balls were all there, it hits you really. I just took my time and knew if I didn’t miss anything silly they were all there to be taken”,
said Trump “I feel sorry for Ding because he couldn’t have played much better; if he’d have played anyone else then he would have probably won.”
The young cueman’s furious and fearless potting was comparing to the likes of the Whirlwind, Jimmy White, when he was on the tour in the 1980s. The way he was given a one-minute standing ovation as
he came out in front of the table, reminded one of the true people's champion, White.
The 21-year-old, Trump is eyeing the title as he faces John Higgins in the final, leading him 10-7 after the second session. Trump has been on fire after he clinched the China Open 2011 and he is
already a s*x symbol in Beijing, looking forward for a Ferrari in his car porch after grabbing the title.
However, the 49-year-old, White has advised the Bristolian to stay focused on his game and not to lose himself getting involved in night club and gambling activities like he did in his time.
White said, “Judd could yet win the world championship this year. But if he doesn’t find the nightclubs, like I did, then he’ll definitely win it one year. It can go to your head if you let it, some
sudden success and adulation. It probably did with me. He’s a s*x symbol already in China, but he’s got good people with him at the Grove Academy where he is based now in Romford.”
The third session of the final encounter of the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship between Judd Trump and John Higgins will resume on Monday, May 2 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
