Judd Trump ready to take on Robert Milkins in Round 2 of 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament
After putting up an excellent snooker show at the Wuxi Sports Center in Wuxi, China, the former World Snooker Championship runner-up, England’s Judd Trump was able to oust the Welshman, Dominic Dale in the opening round of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament.
The Englishman has successfully breezed into the second round of the event where he will be meeting compatriot Robert Milkins.
Winner of the 2011 UK Championship had a tremendous last snooker season and was determined to make a superb start in the recent season. With the Wuxi Classic becoming a major ranking snooker tournament and the absence of Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins,
Trump’s chances of claiming the Wuxi event title have increased. His victory in the opening round by the score line of 5-1 is proof of his impressive game.
How he plays against Milkins will determine his destiny in the Wuxi Classic. The Englishman has played against Milkins once in the 2011 Snooker Shootout where he lost to him. However, since then, Trump’s skills have improved tremendously and he is now one
of the elite potters. The World Number two is all set to face Milkins in the second round.
While speaking to World Snooker, Trump said, “I don't think I've ever played Rob Milkins as a professional, so it will be different for both of us. He's a very attacking player, he plays quite similar to me.”
The 22-year-old added, “He's obviously playing well, he qualified for this event so it'll be a tough game and to knock Andrew Higginson out in the first game he must be playing well so it will be tough against him, but if I can play anywhere near like I
did today then I should progress.”
Trump believes that he must step up to play seriously and sensibly in the season now. He will be looking to put on an impressive display in the beginning of the season, He reckoned that now is the best chance to set an example because the likes of reigning
World Snooker Champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan and the former four-time World Snooker Champion, John Higgins are not taking part in opening events of the season.
