Judd Trump retains Fans Player of the Year title – Snooker Update
Snooker governing body, World Snooker organises an award ceremony every year in which the potters from around the world gather and if the luck favours and fans support, win the Fans Player of the Year Award.
The former World Snooker Championship runner-up, England’s Judd Trump pocketed the Fans Player of the Year award on the basis of his outstanding performance in the 2010-11 Snooker Season.
This year as well, the Ace played up the fans’ expectations, despite the fact that he was not able to win many major ranking snooker tournaments except the UK Championship and retained the Fans player of the Year Award. Trump had a convincing run in the
recently finished snooker season and clinched some minor ranking snooker tournaments which includes two events in the Players Tour Championship (PTC) and two in the Premier League Snooker (PLS).
In the previous year, the Englishman emerged as a new talent in the professional circuit after he showed classy performance in the 2011 China Open snooker tournament. He entered the event as a qualifier but shoed his talent to win his first major ranking
snooker title after beating the World Number one, Mark Selby in the ultimate match by the score line of 10-8.
Winning the 2011 China Open gave a huge boost to his confidence and he kept his amazing form intact during the 2011 World Snooker Championship. Nobody could ever imagine that a mere qualifier will be able to hit the final encounter of the 2011 World Snooker
Championship against the legendary John Higgins after ousting big guns of snooker in the initial rounds.
However, Trump was not able to win the World Championship but he did win many hearts and claimed the Fans Player of the Year Award last year. This year too, he was successful in winning the fans’ hearts again through his convincing performance in the recently
finished snooker season.
Mr. Haircut 100 had a consistent campaign and was able to claim the PTC events along with a couple of PLS titles. His noticeable victory in the recently finish snooker season was the 2011 UK Championship title where he ousted the Northern Irishman Mark Allen
by the score of 10-8.
