Young Englishman Judd Trump stepped into the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship 2011 as he triumphed over compatriot Martin Gould with a convincing score line of 13-6 in their second-round match at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
Two brilliant breaks of 54 and 92 in the first and third frames respectively brought the ace Trump 3-0 up over Gould to shatter him in the first session. However, the Pinner Potter, Gould capitalised terrifically and took three consecutive frames at 26-66,
4-75 and 44-64 with a superb 75 clearance in the fifth frame to pull level at 3-3.
Before Gould could make more, Trump stopped his movement after he clinched back-to-back frames by the score line of 93-0 and 71-43 to clinch a two-frame lead with 5-3 at the end of the first session of the match firing an extraordinary clearance of 80 in
the seventh frame.
The second session began with a rattling clearance of 76 from Gould before he took the ninth frame in one visit with 0-76. However, he failed to unsettle his opponent from Bristol, Trump, as the 21-year-old fired a solid century knock of 108 to nudge Gould
two frames down again at 6-4.
The Londoner, Gould, cut Trump’s lead again when he took the next frame 20-100 before the young Bristolian sparked his cue sensationally and grabbed five consecutive frames with a couple of tremendous breaks of 69, 51, 84 and 67 to gain a comprehensive lead
of six frames by 11-5 at the end of the second session.
The 29-year-old failed to capitalise in the third session as the world number 24 and China Open 2011 winner Judd Trump pocketed two fine knocks of 69 and 53 in the 18th and 19th frames to take the victory and cruise into the quarter-finals
of the Championship.
Trump, also known as Judd Triumph, is playing outstandingly in the current season. His form boosted up especially after he clinched his first ranking title at the Bank of Beijing China Open 2011 recently.
He will next meet the winner of the second-round match between Graeme Dott and Ali Carter.
