Judd Trump stuns Graeme Dott, 11-5 – 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
The Bristolian Ace, Judd Trump, has stunned former 2006 World Champion, Graeme Dott, as he ended his second session with a commanding 11-5 lead over him, in the best-of-twenty-five frames quarter-final match of the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker
Championship. The event is being held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
It was yet another shocking performance from the twenty-one-year-old, Trump, who previously outplayed the likes of the defending champion, Neil Robertson and Martin Gould in the first and the second round respectively. However for the former
Crucible finalist, Graeme Dott, it was a nightmare.
The overall score-line between both players was 67-23, 75-9, 66-52 (52), 68 (68)-73, 91 (86)-0, 111 (64)-16, 100 (58)-0, 69 (55)-5, 65 (50)-41, 104 (104)-0, 0-88, 79 (79)-42, 58-16, 1-81 (72), 0-120 (120) and 6-122 (122).
The world number fourteen, Trump, who ended his first session with an impressive 7-1 lead, dominated the first two frames to extend his lead to 9-1. Meanwhile he also showcased a magnificent century break of 104 in the second.
The world number nine, Dott managed in winning the eleventh frame without doing anything outstanding, before the Englishman pocketed the next two frames on a bounce. Dott could have won the thirteenth, but a poor positional shot off the yellow
saw him lashing out his cue in frustration.
However, the Scottish professional showed some signs of improvement by winning the last three frames. He also mopped up mind-boggling century breaks of 120 and 122 in the last two frames respectively.
His break of 120 in the fifteenth frame was an attempt for the 147, which he unfortunately missed on the yellow ball after doing all the hard-work. He did all fifteen reds taking the black ball before he lost control of his emotions, which was
a huge disappointment for the crowd.
Both payers will fight it out again for the semi-final in their third and final session today at the home of snooker. All is left to see whether the Pocket Dynamo, Dott, is able to make a dramatic comeback against the man in form.
