Judd Trump upsets Peter Ebdon to advance into the semi-final at China Open 2011
Judd Trump has beaten Peter Ebdon by a frame score of 5-1 in the last 8 of the Bank of Beijing world snooker China Open tournament 2011 being held at Beijing Students University Gymnasium, Beijing, China.
The Psycho, Peter Ebdon, who previously beat current world champion Neil Robertson by a frame score of 5-1, has succumbed in the third round against the 21-year-old, Trump. The former 2002 world champion and two-times runner-up, Peter Ebdon, couldn’t register
himself in more than one frame. However the ace, Judd Trump, put a shock on the cards by beating the likes of Marco Fu, Mark Davis and Peter Ebdon in the first, second and third round respectively. The overall score-line between the players was 0-130, 1-95,
8-77, 1-79, 117-1 and 5-76.
In the opening frame, Trump started in a straight forward fashion by producing a mind-boggling match-highest break of 130 to have the first blood 1-0. In the second frame, Ebdon was the first to be among the balls but unfortunately a foul gifted his opponent
a chance, who responded with classy breaks of 52 and 39 to extend his lead by 2-0.
Ebdon again had good chances in the third and fourth but he couldn’t capitalize on them, as he was still trying to get his rhythm. Trump on the other hand took full benefit and fired up decisive breaks of 60 and 61 in both frames respectively.
Ebdon, who was now left down by four frames with five to play, for the first time in the match contributed breaks of 54 and 54 in the fifth frame to trail by 4-1. But there was no point as Trump showed no signs of slowing down and finished the matter off
in the following fifth with a couple of quick fires, 26 and 50.
Judd Trump has now cruised into the semi-finals of the China Open tournament and will face the Magician, Shaun Murphy. It is going to be a promising match, as both players have come through after shrugging off great players.
