Judd Trump versus Ding Junhui, semi-final in running: 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
The Bristolian Ace, Judd Trump, is leading Ding Junhui by a frame score of 7-5 before the mid-session interval break in the second session of their best-of-thirty-three semi-final match of the 2011 Betfred.com
World Snooker Championship. This event is being staged at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
The twenty-one-year-old, Trump, ended his opening session with an impressive 5-3 lead and he is again in a commanding position in the second session.
In the opening frame a few chances were exchanged before the Chinese top cueist, Junhui mopped up a classy frame-winning break of 91 to come within one frame at 4-5. In the second frame first chance fell
for Trump, as Junhui tried a long red which refused to pot in. Though the Chinese was again given a chance to get back on the table, but he failed to capitalise and was punished from his opponent who restored his two frames lead at 4-6.
In the eleventh frame once again it was the Chinese who was the first one to be among the balls but he missed a tricky red. Trump on the same note also missed a yellow ball and the players started off
with a safety battle to settle the frame. It could have gone in favour of the Chinese but he was unfortunate, as his opponent fluked a red to gain a three frame cushion lead at 7-4.
Fourth frame was a bit dramatic. Trump tried to pot a long red with a lot of back spin, but the ball jumped off the table. It looked as if there is going to be a bout of safety play before the world number
four, Junhui, slotted a magnificent long pot. Junhui then managed in winning the frame with a top break of 31 to trail 7-5 before the interval break.
Both players will fight it out again after the fifteen minutes mid-session interval break. All is left to see whether the Chinese is able to make a comeback against the Englishman, who certainly is looking
fully confident.
