Judge Duane Ford: Bradley demonstrated his ability to box expertly – Boxing News
Judge Duane Ford was present at the MGM Grand Arena to judge the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley. He rated the fight 115-113 for Bradley, a decision that was followed by massive uproar from the crowd, fans, analysts and other fighters. Ford
remained silence for a while but he finally broke his silence saying Bradley was the better man in the ring.
Now that Bob Arum is lashing out on the judges and wants an official inquiry to be held, Ford believes it is time for others to learn how to score a fight. When asked, Ford said, “If this were 'American Idol', without a doubt, Manny Pacquiao would have won.
But it was not. I gave an honest opinion. I had Pacquiao up 4-2, I think, at the end of six rounds. I thought he hurt Bradley a couple of times early in the fight. But when the bell rang to end that round, it was over and what happens in one round doesn't
carry over to the next round."
He added that each round is a separate unit and therefore scoring for each round does not relate to the other ones. According to him, Pacquiao picked off a lot of punches initially in the fight but later on Bradley took control. He added that Bradley's punches
hurt Pacquiao in the later round which is why Pacquiao lost.
He added that Bradley performed well and he stood his ground as a boxer. Finally, Ford appreciated Bradley for his wonderful boxing skills.
For now, it looks like Arum and every other fan of Manny Pacquiao wants to know the real reason behind the fight’s scores. Most of them believe it is a conspiracy for the rematch to be a much bigger seller. However, the judges maintain that they were honest
in their opinion and that Bradley outclassed Pacquiao.
Many celebrities, fighters and analysts around the world were shocked by Pacquiao’s split decision win. Former WBA and IBF champion Amir Khan called the fight results ‘robbery’ for Manny Pacquiao. Similarly, Justin Timberlake called it an embarrassment for
the sport. Similarly, fans and analysts all around the world have been condemning the decision strongly over the internet and through social media websites.
